De tekst op de plaquette luidt: [i]BRUG TUSSEN ANGST EN HOOP Hongerwinter 1944 - 1945 (21 december 2005)[/i] De oude brug over de IJssel is in de Tweede Wereldoorlog twee maal zwaar beschadigd. De eerste keer in 1940 door Nederlandse militairen om de Duitse invasie te stoppen. De tweede keer in 1945 door de Duitsers om hun aftocht te dekken tegen de Geallieerde Troepen.
