De PBY-5 Catalina 04469 stortte op 25 augustus 1944 neer tijdens een vlucht van Cold Bay naar Kodiak; een route via Sand Point. De U.S. Navy slaagde er niet in om het vliegtuig en haar 12 koppige bemanning te traceren. Het vliegtuig is ergens tussen Cold Bay en Sand Point verdwenen.
