Hotel Adlon werd tijdens de slag om Berlijn gebruikt door het Duitse leger als veldhospitaal. Op 2 mei 1945 raakte het gebouw zwaar beschadigd door een vuur dat door Sovjet soldaten in de wijnkelder aangestoken was.
