Dit monument herdenkt de 594 gesneuvelden Duitse matrozen van de Duitse destroyers 'Leberecht Maass' en 'Max Schultz'. Die op 22 februari 1940 waren gezonken door toe doen van miscommunicatie tussen de Kriegsmarine en Luftwaffe, tijdens operatie 'Wikinger'.
