Dit monument herdenkt de slachtoffers van het Duitse slagschip 'Scharnhorst', dat op 26 december 1943 ter zinken werd gebracht tijdens de zeeslag om Noord-kaap. Van de 1968 manschappen aan boord, overleefden er maar 36.
