Sir Barnes Willis heeft hier 49 jaar gewoond. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog voerde Wallis in zijn tuin de eerste experimenten uit met de stuiterbom. Hij gebruikte een wastobbe van het gezin en de knikkers van zijn kinderen om de stuiterbeweging van de bom te testen. Willis ligt begraven op de St. Laurence Churchyard te Effingham.
