Op deze plek stond de bomvrije kazerne, codenaam "Hove", die tijdens de slag om Vlissingen in 1944 zware strijd zag tussen commando's en een Duits garnizoen. Het complex raakte dusdanig beschadigd dat het na de oorlog is gesloopt.
