De Coastwatchers camp op Gold Ridge is in mei 1942 opgericht door Hay en D.S. McFarland. Zij werden later vergezeld door F. M. Campbell. Het kamp werd op 12 juli 1942 door A6M2-N Rufe vliegtuigen aangevallen.
