PBY Catalina A24-20 stortte op 6 mei 1942, tijdens de slag in de Koraalzee, neer in zee. Acht bemanningsleden kwamen die dag om het leven. De piloot werd krijgsgsgevangen gemaakt en overleefde de oorlog niet.
