Het Rabi-gebied zag zware strijd op 31 augustus 1942 tussen Japanse troepen en Australian Army 2/12 Battalion en commando's. In de strijd werden twee Japanse Type 95 Ha Go tanks achtergelaten. Het Rabi-gebied was tevens een Geallieerde legerkamp dat tussen 1942 en 1943 door Japanse vliegtuigen is aangevallen.
