De villa op de Preußstraße 10 is begin 20ste eeuw gebouwd voor de familie Martin. In 1946 werd het huis geconfisqueerd en was tot 1947 huisvesting voor hoge Sovjet officieren. Vanaf 1948 diende de villa als een gastenverblijf van de deelstaatregering. Vanaf 1953 tot aan zijn dood in 1957 woonde veldmaarschalk Friedrich Paulus in het huis. Paulus kwam in Russische krijgsgevangen na het Duitse verlies in de slag om Stalingrad. Voorwaarde voor zijn vrijlating was dat hij in Oost Duitsland zou gaan wonen.
