Arbeitserziehungslager Sikawa is gebouwd door de Duitse bezettingsmacht en was tussen 12 maart 1943 tot 18 januari 1945 in gebruik. De NKVD heeft het complex hergebruikt (januari-april 1945) als interneringskamp voor Volksduitsers (april 1945 - 1948) en krijgsgevangenkamp voor Duitse officieren (1948-1950). De gevangenis is nog steeds in gebruik.
